You’ve done it all - spoken to the other - be it parent, spouse, child, colleague, friend, looked at a situation objectively, gone to therapy, rationalized your actions.
But deep in your heart, you know. You know what is true. You’ve heard the whisper inside many times, and pushed it away. You’ve spoken to friends, and gotten that understanding nod many times. “What can you do? They are the way they are”, is the response, and you’ve adjusted to that reality several times.
But your heart keeps nudging you: “do something, this is not true for me”.
For once, you stop, listen. You finally listen to that whisper. You engage: “what do you want me to do?” You dialogue, and perhaps journal. You create space, and slowly, become friends with your heart. You become your own best friend.
The guidance is one that rings so true, in each and every cell in your body, deep in your heart. You’ve known it for a long time, pushed it away.
Your ego is always there to guide you away with the “what ifs” and “it’s too scary”.
Slowly, you trust that voice and its guidance. You take the first action your heart tells you. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but boy, does it feel good.
Others may not understand. They may react, but it’s okay.
Here’s another thing I’ve realized: to follow your heart, it is important to be in stillness. Let the voice get loud. And of course, the ego, and past conditioning - our fears, anger, sadness will also speak. Just allow everything to be, to settle, and then the voice will be the only one. Say, “I see you; I trust you!”.
Most of all, when you are ready to act from that inner knowing, the fewer people you talk to, the better it is. People, well-meaning as they are, cannot know or feel what you so deeply do. They will come from their perspectives, bring in their own rationale.
The best decisions are made in the stillness of the heart.
This is when you begin leading from within - not by force, or logic, but from a space of inner truth.
